Hair Regimens, Yes 2 or 3!

I really thought I had my hair regimen posted on here before, but after looking over my blog...I guess I didn't. I wanted to give you guys a view of how I was taking care of my hair. I am decideing on whether to do some youtube videos =/ we'll see. I have 2 different hair regimens for when I wear my hair naturally and when I wear weaves. Here it is.

Natural Regimen:
-Clarify with baking soda/water mix bi weekly.
-Wash with Creme of Nature kiwi & citrus moisturizing shampoo (1x)
-Detangle with Suave almond & shea butter conditioner
-Aphogee 2 min reconstructor for 10 min.
-Deep Condition with Pantene relaxed and natural breakage defense deep conditioning mask.
-Apply Garnier Fuctis leave in conditioner and Air day.
-Once aidried, I apply my megatek/olive oil mix then seal with castor

Now that take on average abour 4 hrs. I like to deep condition for at least 2 hrs.

Weave Regimen:
-I basically do nothing to my hair when it's in a weave. I will spray water on my scalp and apply oil about 6 times while I have it in. I know it's not much, but I don't wan't oily looking hair =\ yeah, yeah, I know. Hopefully this will help some of you and if you have any question I'm alwas here to answer them :)

Current Hair Length.

This is picture of my hair today. I'm deep conditioning as we speak. I've been a very bad girl with my hair. So I decided to give it some love. I think I am 1 inch from APL here. Exciting! Hopefully by Halloween (my APL goal) I will be fully there. It seems like since my hair hasnt been weaved up in about a month it's growing slow, but I'm sure it's just me.

That's my dad's hairy arm in the pic holding my hair, lol. I made him do my dirty work. I hate reaching for my own hair. It takes way too much work. For some reason I get really tired, haha. Whatcha think?

Rockin' Wigs!

I've fallen in love with the convenience of wigs! Especially big, curly ones! All I've been doing for this past week is co wasing, 2 braided pigtails & wiggin, lol. But I still suffer from "hand in hair" syndrome. I can't stop playing and streching out my hair. It's like watching a pot of water boil. I WANNA be APL already, Grrr! So here are the 2 wigs I've been rocking. Cant really remember the brand, but I'll see if I can find em on hair sisters or something, k?

Prepare Yourself!

Hello Loves!

I know....Gone for another month, but that's life right? :) Like I was told when I was younger, "Nothing stays the same". Which happens to be the truth. Alots changed for not only me, but also my family. So were taking time and getting things back to normal. I've been doing good myself I should say. Can't complain. Hairs alright. I havent done anything to it really inthe past month so my ends are as dry as the desert i'm in right now, lol. Plus these knot balls are killing me! Ugh! Anywho...I'm gonna put some more posts up on different topics so hopefully this makes up for the month I have been gone.

Hair One Review

Photobucket

Review: This is Sally's version for Wen's Almond mint conditioner. I used it around 3 months ago in March. I did NOT know it doesnt lather & I LOVE lathering shampoos so this turned me off right away. I believe this was the only reason I hated it. The feeling after rinsing wasnt that great either. It felt me little slip and my hairline felt as though I just clarified. So, i'm giving it a Nay. BTW I used the one that contained Olive Oil.

Ingredients: water, cetyl alcohol, cetearyl alcohol, amodimethicone, glycerine, aloe leaf juice, butylene glycol and anthemis nobilis flower extract, cofea arabica extract and vaccinium myrtillus fruit extract, roas roxburghii fruit extract, propylene glycol and rosemary leaf extract, olive fruit oil, avocado oil, sweet almond oil, hydrolyzed wheat protein, menthol, panthenol, behentrimonium methosulfate, BHT, Polysorbate 60, PEG 60 almond dimethylamine, guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, citric acid, disodium EDTA, 1, 2-hexanediol and caprylyl glycol, phenoxyethanol, sorbic acid, fragrance.

Recommended: For anyone looking to go shampooless. The pump bottle cost about 12.00 & the sample packet was about 3.00.

It's Been Too Long...

Life has been taking a major toll on me emotionally, but it's all good. I know God has my back and he has a plan for me in the long run. I just have to stay faithful to his word and Delight myself in him. Every other aspect of my life is decent though! lol.

I'm really starting to treat myself to special things here and there. Buying shoes, new make up and getting my hair done. Since we're on the topic of hair, I've been rocking my real hair for almost 3 weeks now. It's time to braid it back up! I'm neglecting it like crazy. I only co-wash when I remember to and I haven't did a protein treatment in forever.

So today I'm going to be giving my hair all the treatments it needs because tomorrow I'm weaving it up again =) I'm going to be using a new shampoo called Hair One. I know it's not thaaat new, but I wanted to see if I can find something sulfate free that actually makes my hair feel good. Then I'm going back to my original DC which is Silk Elements mega moisture condittioning treatment. Exciting! I can't wait for my new doo. It's them same as my Christmas sew in. I liked the hair so much I hd to do it again.

The purple line is my APL goal. I'm trying to reach that by October. It looks like I have 3 more inches to go. The pink line is of course, bottom of BSL. I'm going to give myself til January of next year to be at top & by summer to be full with blunt ends. Whoo! Hope you enjoy.

Letting Go of the Dead Weight

Split Ends

Doesn't that image make you frown? Ugh. This is one of the reasons I get scissor happy with my hair. Not only splits, but knot balls also. Due to being natural, I tend to get a lot of those. All I can simply say is Let them go. It maybe hard, but let it go. You can't repair splits or dead hair, so your basically wasting your time and products on something that can't comeback to life.

I give myself a trim every 3-6 months, but also in between that I do a search & destroy to cut down on the knots too. I usually get the long and triple split. Please remember that you are not capable of removing all the bad ends from your hair. So don't fret if you see a couple still. It's natural.

Exercising with weaves

blog

I'm currently going into my 4th week of having this sew-in and I just recently started exercising New Years Day. Now, I've tried this perviously in late 08 (exercising with the weave) and I always would sweat and I hated to scratch my scalp because the build up from products and sweat just don't mix. Yuck!

I figured that if some of you ladies are wearing weaves as a protective style, as well as braids, it is very necessary to keep your scalp/hair fresh. So, I recommend (and depending on what hair you use, Synthetic or Human) to keep a small spray bottle filled with water and a choice of your favorite oil mixed in to make it smell nice. This not only helps with the constant itchiness, but also aids the sweaty smell. Now I don't co wash my weaves unless I have wet & wavy hair. This is my alternative to it. Oils the I recommend would be peppermint, vitamin E, Jojoba, or Castor or something that has a really great smell. I hope this helps you guys =)

KF.

My natural texture.

I took these pics before I started my current sew in (which btw is due to come out 1/23) I'm for sure my hair texture is 4a/b. I think I have corkscrew curlies in the middle and it really doesn't have a patter towards the outside of my head. I just caught pics of the back though... I will have my official length check for 2009 by next weekend. Then I will start my journey to APL. Exciting! So be on the look out for that update.
